Happy New Year

Happy New Year! We would like to thank everyone for the overwhelmingly positive response to our latest brochure, which you can see here, and which rounds off an exciting 2017 for us. It has been a year of changes, the most significant of which has been the departure of Imogen Orr who has taken off to Florence to pursue her passion for painting.

We will miss her enormously, but she has a great talent to nurture and we wish her all the very best with what will doubtless be a glittering artistic career. Taking her place, we welcome the lovely Hetty Stephen who will be in command of our social media and overseeing all repairs and workshop queries with great charm and efficiency.

Over the course of the year, we have had a number of successes in finding new homes for pieces at all levels, including a highly important Kashmir sapphire. 2018 promises to be an interesting year for the jewellery market, but prices for coloured stones and signed jewels remain particularly strong so if you have a piece you are unsure about, we would be delighted to give you a steer. We are always happy to take a look and offer our advice without the slightest obligation. As with the vendor of the sapphire (whose original estimate of value lay at a little less than a fifteenth of what we were finally able to return for it!) you may be pleasantly surprised.

We will be taking off to Miami in February for the great annual gathering of the world’s jewellery dealers. Hopefully we will be returning with one or two exciting new prizes. Keep an eye on our Instagram for updates and maybe one or two amusing shots of out-of-place Englishmen abroad!
